What are the factors that affect the rate of transpiration?

The factors that affect transpiration are;
1. The cuticle
The thicker the cuticle the higher the rate of transpiration and the thinner the cuticle the lower the rate of transpiration.

2.Humidity
The higher the humidity the lower the rate of transpiration and the lower the humidity the higher the rate of transpiration.

3.Wind
The stronger the wind is the higher the rate of transpiration and the weaker the wind the lower the rate of transpiration.

4.Sunken stomata
Transpiration is higher when the stomata is less sunken compared to when the stomata is more sunken.

5.Size of the leaves
The bigger the leaf the higher the surface area exposed for everporation therefore higher transpiration rate and the smaller the leaf the smaller the surface area exposed for everporation therefore lower transpiration rate.

6.Sunlight intensity
The higher the intensity of sunlight the higher the rate of transpiration and the lower the intensity of sunlight the lower the rate of transpiration.

7.Temperature
At low temperatures below the optimum level, the rate of transpiration is low,increase in temperature will increase the rate of transpiration upto the optimum level.Beyond the optimum level the rate of transpiration decreases as the plant is destroyed or denatured by higher temperatures.
